Speaker Series to Feature the Story of the African American Experience in Auburn

Auburn, Ala. - Auburn's Year of Alabama Small Towns and Downtowns Speaker Series continues on Tuesday, October 26 at 6 p.m. at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center as the City of Auburn presents a panel discussion on the African American experience in Auburn. This free, community event is open to all ages.

The panel will be moderated by Cynthia Boyd, a retired educator with the Auburn City Schools and longtime community leader. Panel members include Charlsie E. Roberts, Connie J. Frazier, Mable H. Robinson, and Bernice C. Rutledge. Boyd describes the discussion as a compilation of information panel members gathered during their research to write a book on the African American experience in Auburn entitled Lest We Forget. Both the discussion and book detail information panel members gathered from questionnaires and interviews with individuals with childhood roots in Auburn. In addition to their extensive research, Ms. Frazier and Ms. Robinson are Auburn natives and long-time citizens while Ms. Roberts and Ms. Rutledge have lived and worked in Auburn for many years.

This engaging discussion is sure to resonate with the crowd. Join us as we celebrate Auburn's history during the Year of Alabama Small Towns and Downtowns Celebration.
